Samsung promises all-day battery life on future smartphones

We've all been there: halfway through the work day, the battery indicator on your smartphone switches to red, and you find yourself nervously looking for a power outlet. Samsung Electronics hopes to alleviate the battery issue a bit--at least for most customers. The company has set a goal that smartphones coming out this year can last all day under average to moderately heavy use.

IBM quarterly results show modest gains

AT&T purchase of smartphones

AT&T said it plans to hike the data plan rates that are required with the purchase of any smartphone including the iPhone--a reflection of the growing bandwidth demands the carrier faces. The company's previous bottom-tier $15 plan will go up to $20, although the amount of data allocated also goes up to 300 from 200 megabytes. Likewise, the $25, 2 gigabyte plan goes up to a $30, 3GB one.

Facebook intros 60 new Open Graph partners

At an event here, this evening the company announced a crop of 60 new partners that have integrated their applications with Open Graph, as well as promising to approve new applications that make use of it. The feature lets Facebook developers add real world actions to their applications, taking Facebook's sharing features beyond links and liking items to sharing what exactly that application does.
